Quarantine

Our clinic is authorised to enter import and selected export quarantine facilities and treat horses travelling internationally and entering Australia for competition, breeding and other pleasure purposes. We have a close relationship with most travel companies who specialise in horse transport.

Our services include blood collecting and swabbing for various diseases both endemic in our country and those diseases that are not present in Australia.

We also deal with day to day illness and injuries acquired while travelling and within the quarantine facilities. We follow strict guidelines and protocols set out by the Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) and also those required by other countries.

Flemington Equine Clinic has managed the veterinary care for racehorses in quarantine for the major Melbourne races emanating from places such as Hong Kong, England, France, Ireland and Germany including 2011 Melbourne Cup winner Dunaden.
